I need a source for 10-pin stacking connectors like those used on Arduino boards shown at...

Mill-Max makes lots of great pins of various types. You can even order special designs if you order 1000 of the individual pins. I am not sure of the requirements for custom headers, though.

There are several places that sell them in retail quantities including adafruit industries, SparkFun, and the Robot Shop. If you could find a source like Mouser or Digi-Key the price would probably be lower. As I understand it, these are "wirewrap headers" but my searches haven't turned up anything but the retail sources. You might post on the adafruit forum, the Arduino forum or the AVR Chat Yahoo group asking if anyone knows the manufacturer part number for them.

SparkFun, et al have the 6-pin and 8-pin headers used for Arduino but not the 10-pin versions I need. I did find a US retail supplier by searching for 10-pin stacking header and my distributor has a Chinese partner who is looking for a manufacturer there for the production boards.

I need another. This time it's a through-hole machined pin socket with 1.27mm spacing- snappable if longer than my needed 15-position.

I've used these guys for a variety of odd things. They sell through distributors who sample. They have a large variety of unique interconnects.

I had already found the Mill-Max PN and requested a quote from a distributor. I also found that Mouser stocks a 50-pin non-snappable Mill-Max SIP but for about $10-11 each depending on lead-free plating or not. That's more than the entire PCB including components so would double my cost.
