When posting here, how do I make a shorter URL. Instead of something like this:
http://www.standardics.nxp.com/support/ ... n97055.pdf

I would like to say something like:

go here and have 'go here' BE the link. I see others doing this. How?

Any enlightenment will be appreciated.

Before the right square bracket of the opening url tag, simply insert an equal sign followed by the actual URL. When you're composing the message body, this syntax is shown below the font color and font size controls (above the edit box) when you move the mouse over the URL button.

Don,

Very COOL :)

I never noticed the hint before. What does the alt+w mean?

That is the shortcut key to insert that particular tag, equivalent to clicking the button corresponding to the tag.
