My next little project is to be a cruise control for my diesel van. On my old van cruising on the motorway mostly consisted of foot flat on the floor and it would wheeze along about 65 if I was lucky. the new Ford TDCI van will make 100mph and whilst towing I am limited to 60mph, which is a bit of a pain to try and maintain for long period.
previously I posted on here about interfacing direct with the ecu as its fly by wire. I got a spare accelerator pedal and pulled it apart and found 3 pots inside. I mapped it out, but there is a large margin for getting this wrong and upsetting the ecu - probably not permanently, but given testing has to be done on the road in that scenario its ling winded.
so the approach will be to use a BMW actuator as described here http://www.meeknet.co.uk/e32/BMWCruiseC ... alData.pdf though I will use the slightly late e46 version as they are more common. this usefully also has position feedback and instant engage/disengage (good for safety cutout)
One thing isn't clear from the write up. is the signal to activate the motor likely to be pwm so to regulate the 'pull' force ?
if pwm, then can anyone recommend a driver circuit for use with a zbasic cpu ?
