M41T81 RTC module

I have been trying to interface to this module as its part of a combined module detailed here http://www.byvac.com/bv3/index.php?rout ... duct_id=75
the only advantage to this over a ds1307 is that it records the time power went off which for 1 project I am working on is important. In theory the data presentation is very similar to the ds1307, but for some reason I can't get reliable results from it.
has anyone used this with zbasic ?
