Experimental IDE Release

Post by dkinzer »

Previous versions of the IDE have stored "session" information in three separate files (SciTE.ses, SciTE.recent and SciTE.recentProj) located in the IDE subdirectory of the ZBasic installation directory. This practice can cause problems on Vista and Win7 because the OS intervenes and causes the files to actually be stored in the "virtual store" directory named something like c:\users\<user-name>\appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\ZBasic\IDE.

An experimental release, available via the link below, combines the content of the three files (in a "properties file" format) into a single file named SciTE.session located in the logged-in user's directory (e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\<user-name>). The first time that the updated IDE is run, a new-format file will be generated from existing old-format files if they exist. After the first run, the old files may be deleted manually.

The .zip file below contains only the IDE and a change history file. The executable file should be extracted to the IDE subdirectory of the ZBasic installation directory. You may want to rename or save off the existing executable to a different directory to simplify reverting to the existing version should that be desirable.

The v1.5.6 release contained in the current ZBasic installer has exhibited issues for some people (possibly related to running on Win7). The v1.5.12 release may be a good alternative for anyone that has issues with the v1.5.6 release.

Note that this version does not contain the unique features that are in the Beta releases v1.5.10 and v1.5.11 so anyone using those versions should not change to using the v1.5.12 release.
