XBee Hell

Discussion specific to the DIP and TQFP packaged ZX devices like the ZX-40, ZX-44, ZX-32 and ZX-328 series. The differences between these devices is primarily the packaging and pinout so most issues will apply to all devices.

The presence of the word XBee introduces some uncertainty. Are you performing the test steps with a direct serial connection or are you trying to use an XBee link? I intended the former rather than the latter.

No. I'm using a hard serial line via a dual CyberSerial pci card (COM1 & COM2). The X-CTU software includes a terminal that allows user to select COM port. I used COM1 in steps-B1 through B5 in the March 3rd exercise. No XBee there.

Note, however, that Option|Reset Device does not work correctly on that version when ATN Character downloading is selected.
Did you perform your exercise using a direct serial port or a USB to TTL serial converter? It's unusual for Win x64 desktops to come with a serial port. This could be the difference.

I used a "real" serial port on a PCIe add-in board like this one. I'll repeat the exercise using an FTDI-based USB-serial converter.
