Anyone care to guess when one actually get samples? Mouser has it on their web site; I've asked for a delivery time quote.

the 16KB RAM in this is appealing.
And it can be had in PDIP

I know of people that have mega1284P samples in hand. The larger question is when they will be available in production quantities.

distributors say samples or purchased sample quantities must be direct to Atmel. Hmm.

I assume that response came from Mouser. If you want samples I'd suggest checking with a distributor like Avnet. They've always been very good about getting samples for me. The other choice is to request samples via Atmel's website. I believe that they just forward your request to one of a chosen set of distributors.

The latest I've heard is production availability in 2009Q1. That's a six month slip from the original projection. From what I've seen this is not uncommon for Atmel (and perhaps other semiconductor manufacturers as well).

Based on that date, I'll procrastinate too!

They better watch out - with the prices of ARM7s.
